An Evening With DS at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons
My time at Le Manoir was absolutely fantastic, what a great place to be. I was there recently for the launch of DS Automobile’s newest addition to the line, the DS9. DS was the flagship daughter brand of Citroen, before dropping off the ladder to become its own premium marque back in 2015.
The DS9 is nothing short of presidential, with an all-over leather interior held together by pearl stitching, with a B.R.M R180 timepiece at the centre of the dashboard. The high fashion motor boasts an even more incredible performance spec, offering up to 360hp and a top speed of 155mph, a staggering amount of power and speed from a plug-in hybrid.
I had the pleasure of test driving the car, and it really is a smooth ride. The craftsmanship that’s gone into this is astonishing. There was also a delicate feel to it, not shatteringly delicate, but just enough to notice. It seemed understated, rather than imposing, but that’s just the nature of DS.
Following the test drive, I was taken into Le Manoir for a fantastic seven-course meal. Of the seven, I can say that the Loup De Mer and Le Wagyu, the fish and beef dishes, left quite the impression. Exquisite to say the least.
Le Manoir’s Oxfordshire based hotel also has one of the most beautiful surrounding gardens. The 2,500 strong orchard supplies around 15% of the vegetables used in the kitchens at the hotel’s restaurant. It’s even world-renowned for its gardening courses, which really is no surprise.
